Get More Clients – 3 Strategies to Avoid Website Overwhelm

Congratulations, you’ve decided to take your coaching business to the next level and that includes a new website that will help you get more clients.  You’re probably working with a business coach and have great programs and service packages planned.

You’re so excited. Now you just need to put all the online stuff together.  And suddenly you find yourself in the World of Overwhelm.

The choices seem endless and there is a flood of information on how to succeed online.  You don’t know who to believe.  You feel paralyzed because you don’t want to make the wrong choice and end up with a pretty $8,000 online business brochure but no clients.

If you’re currently trying to get your site up, but you’ve hit a wall and are stuck, take heart.  Creating a new website is a lot of work, but it should be a fun and exciting time, too.  This is the start to a whole new phase for your coaching practice.

Here are my top 3 strategies to get you out of overwhelm and into a new site faster that you thought possible.

Website Strategy #1 – Hire a Proven Online Business Coach

If you think you can’t afford a great online business coach, think again.  You can’t afford NOT to.

There are so many choices to be made: autoresponders, shopping carts, merchant accounts, SEO, opt-in pages, teleclasses, video blogging, podcasting… the list goes on and on.

How do you choose which company to use?  Which method will get you the best results for YOUR business? Which technique or tool do you use first for maximum lead generation?

Choosing a proven online business coach will save you months of research and tens of thousands of dollars. You’ll make the right choices right from the start, and your business growth will be exponentially faster.

Remember, when choosing an online coach, pick someone with proven success in your area of business.  There’s a lot of difference between a website for coaches and a website for affiliate marketers.  Although the tools are similar, the method of using them can be very different.

You wouldn’t hire a novelist to write your advertising copy; you’d hire a copywriter to get great results.  Likewise, if you’re a coach, hire business coach who has experience working with coaches.

Website Strategy #2 – Get a Virtual Assistant or Two

Part of the reason you’re feeling overwhelmed is because you’re trying to learn how to use all the software tools yourself.  While many of these tools are easy to learn, you don’t want to hold back your business growth 12 to 18 months while you learn them.

Calculate how much income you are turning away so that you can learn how to edit videos or program a HTML newsletter.  Do the math, and you’ll quickly see that hiring a VA is a smart move for your business and more than pays for itself.

One tip here: VA fees can add up quickly.  And many coaches have found themselves in a financial bind when they hired VAs to do work that brought in no income.  So use VAs to perform tasks that bring in income, such as assistance with effective marketing.  Or use them to perform tasks so your time is freed up to generate income, such as programming your newsletter so you can spend the day working with a client.

Website Strategy #3 – Hire a Webmaster with Internet Marketing Experience

If you just want an online brochure, your 16 year-old niece or nephew can build you a site in a few days.  But if you want a website that will attract high-paying clients, you’ll want to hire someone who has experience – and can get results – for coaching (and service oriented) websites.

There are many different types of sites out there: HTML, PHP, ASP, WordPress, membership sites, social media sites, and more.  Not all websites are created equal, and not all webmasters can deliver the same level of results.

Do you know which sites are best for your coaching practice?  Which ones will get you the best results in the search engines?

Do you know what features you MUST have on your site to attract clients and which ones will push potential clients away?

When you work with an experienced internet marketing webmaster, the work will go faster, smoother, and you can avoid overwhelm.  For example: you tell them you need a webpage for a free teleclass and want to collect information on the people signing up, and they know exactly what to do and all the pieces that need to be put together.

They’ll ask you questions and make recommendations for things you didn’t even know you needed – tools and strategies that will help you get more clients and sales.

Big tip: Look for someone who is not only technically proficient, but who is also highly recommended by their recent clients.  You want someone who can get the job done well AND will be a joy to work with.
