“I’m not getting any sign ups or clients from my website!”
Does that sound familiar? It’s a statement I hear a lot from coaches and consultants who are frustrated with a website that isn’t helping them grow their business.
Many of these coaches have already spent much time and money to create an online presence. So by the time I speak with them, they’re looking for a quick and easy fix.
Well, I can’t wave a magic wand. BUT I do have a simple, 3 step process that will help almost any coaching practice get more clients from their website visitors. And best of all, it won’t cost a bundle to implement.
Step 1 – Attract your ideal client to your website
Forget about attracting anybody and everybody to your website. Instead focus on attracting your ideal client. To do that you need to know how your ideal client is looking for your services – both offline and online. Go to where your ideal client can be found and let them know what you have to offer. (More on that in Step 2.)
Look at what words you are using to bring people to your site. Are you clearly identifying your ideal client? For instance, if your ideal client is a nurse, don’t use general words like “medical professional”. Instead use the word “nurse.”
Step 2 – Make an Irresistible Offer
Find out what your ideal client really wants and then give it to them on your site. I call this a free irresistible offer. Don’t go for a sale right at the start. If you want more clients, focus on building a relationship with prospects first.
You’ll want to get their name and email address in exchange for your gift so that you can easily follow up with them. (More on this in Step 3.)
The key to getting sign ups on your website is to make your offer clear and something that your ideal client can’t resist, especially since you’re giving it away. If the free offer isn’t easily seen within just a few seconds of being on your site, you may need to change your layout so that it is more visible.
I often use an opt-in page for this purpose, and my clients have gotten conversion rates as high as 52%, with typical results of 20% and higher. That’s way higher than the industry standard results of 2-5%.
Step 3 – Follow Up with Prospects
Statistics state that someone usually has to have 9 to 12 contacts with you before they agree to buy from you. In other words, if you don’t follow up, you won’t get sales.
Most coaches fail to follow up because they don’t want to be sales-y or pushy. No problem. Simply follow up by offering more free (or low-cost) valuable information. Remember, your goal is to build a relationship with ideal prospects so they’ll contact you.
A series of follow up email messages is a must. Another great strategy for coaches is offering complimentary sessions. Both these methods allow you to follow up with prospects and invite them to work with you further.
